In Busaabala, residents had to battle the heavy rain that started at around 2:00pm, and lasted about two hours. They used various utensils, including basins and saucepans and buckets to scoop water out of their houses.
The most affected area is in a valley and lacks a proper drainage channel. Regina Batabe, a resident, asked the Government to come to their rescue.
"We need treated mosquito nets. This is a breeding ground for mosquitoes," she said.
Deus Bamanya, the acting assistant commissioner for data processing in the department of meteorology, recently warned of heavy rains beginning mid-August.
He said the Mt. Elgon areas, north-eastern and northern regions were likely to receive above normal rainfall, while the south-western and central regions were expected to receive below normal rainfall during the same period.
