American hostage in Darfur Released

US State Secretary Hillary Clinton made last night a telephone to Sudanese Vice-president Ali Othman Mohammed Taha.
She expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Sudanese government to release the American hostage who was detained in Darfur province.
Clinton hoped that the referendum due to be held in southern Sudan will take place smoothly and peacefully.
She also voiced support to the ongoing efforts for bringing about peace and security in Darfur province.
On his part, Taha confirmed the commitment of the Sudanese government to hold referendum and said that is a political, constitutional and national commitment.
Taha reiterated the commitment of the Sudanese government to bring about peace in Darfur province in line with its strategy that aims at realizing higher national interest.
