Nigeria: We Shall Fight Corruption With All our Might - Jonathan

 PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, said he would fight against corruption with all his might, just as he urged Nigerians to join him in the crusade.

President Jonathan who spoke at the annual national management conference and general meeting of the Institute, said: "It is through total elimination of corruption that Nigeria will become a prosperous nation worth bequeathing to generations yet unborn."

The President who noted that contributions of the Nigerian Institute of Management, NIM, towards national development through professionalism and career enhancement cannot be overemphasized, however, said the Federal Government placed higher priority on quality education, skill and capacity development of the citizenry irrespective of state of origin of any Nigerian.

Represented by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mr. Stephen Oronsanye, the President said: "I urge you to effectively propagate your enshrined code of conduct to all Nigerians in their various calling and endeavours as it is capable re orientating the society for better."

President Jonathan said the nation faced some challenges which could be addressed, and called on NIM to continue to partner with the government in ensuring that Nigerians were professionally trained in their various professions.

Earlier, President of Nigerian Institute of Management, Mrs. Sally Adukwu-Bolujoko, had urged the administration to live up to expectation, stressing that if the nation must get there, it must respect rule of law and respect for institutions not persons.

She said: "Many of us agree that corruption in Nigeria is propelled by need on the part of the impoverished majority and greed on the part of the affluent and powerful minority."
