Police Parade Pastor and Others Over Kidnap Allegations


A mid aged pastor was among suspected kidnappers paraded at the Delta State Police headquarters in Asaba, yesterday, over their alleged involvement in kidnapping.



State Police Commissioner, Mr Mamman Tsafe told newsmen that the pastor was picked up following the discovery of a 3 -year-old baby athis residence.

According to him, “on the first of this month at about 2130 hours, oneYoleme Edoja, female aged 3 years, was kidnapped at Ughelli.

A Divison Ughelli patrol team working in synergy with local vigilantetraced the suspects to their hideout and arrested a pastor of Pentecostal African Church, Ughelli and a Cameroonian. ” He added that thevictim was rescued unhurt at the pastor’s residence.

According to him, the suspects had demanded N4 million ransombefore they were caught.
The CP also said that another group of kidnappers kidnapped a 6-year-old boy at Kaduna and “demanded the sum of N2.5 million and directed the mother of the child to Oleh, Delta State to trade theransom for her son. ”

Tsafe commended his men, who, on Sunday,trailed and arrested one of the suspects while trying to pick theransom along IDC Road Oleh.
