Boko Haram Sect attacks Bauchi police station

Sect attacks Bauchi police station - Suspected members of the radical sect, Boko Haram on Thursday night bombed a police station in the Alkaleri local government area of Bauchi state.
A source said the attackers carted away arms & ammunitions from the station's armoury.

This is coming barely 48 hours after a police station in Toro local government area of the state was attacked and arms stolen from the station.

The Number of casualties in the recent attack is yet to be confirmed.

The Bauchi state governor had on Thursday announced a ban on commercial motorcycle operation in Maiduguri and its surroundings in a bid to curb almost daily attacks by gunmen from the Islamist sect.

Adherent of Boko Haram, say they wants a wider application of sharia Islamic law across Nigeria. They have carried out assassinations, shootings and attacks with home-made explosives in recent months to put pressure on the authorities to grant their demand

Most of the attacks have been around Maiduguri, a northeastern city of more than 1.2 million people where according to a Reuters report more than 150 have been killed this year. The attackers often throw explosives and fire shots from motorbikes.
