Lagos — Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Attahiru Jega, has stated that the commission did not undertake a mass purge of its personnel owing to shortness of time before the scheduled general elections.
The INEC boss, who spoke in Lagos yesterday as guest lecturer at a policy dialogue session held by the Nigeria Economic Summit Group, however, promised to utilise the June 12, 1993 module for the conduct of the forthcoming polls.
INEC has come under scathing criticisms from Nigerians for its refusal to undertake a comprehensive appraisal of its workforce with a view to weeding away those considered as possible clogs to the smooth conduct of the general elections.
