Egypt has no plan to attack Uganda over the River Nile but seeks to strengthen bilateral relations, Mr Tarek Kamel, Egypt’s minister of communications and information technology, told News Desk yesterday.
“This issue of attack - that Egypt will attack Uganda is complete nonsense. This will never happen,” Mr Kamel said, in response to allegations that his country was preparing to start a war with Uganda.
“If there was a war (plan), our minister of electricity would not be here and I would not. Uganda is definitely a sister country to Egypt,” Mr Kamel said, shortly after a meeting between a delegation of officials from Egypt’s information and communications technology (ICT) sector and ministry and those of Uganda, in Kampala.
