Bauchi police arrest two Boko Haram suspects

Latest Nigeria News - Security operatives in Bauchi State have arrested two suspected members of the Boko Haram sect at a military checkpoint in Bauchi metropolis.
The suspects were arrested yesterday night at the check point while attempting to escape from the state.

The Bauchi State Police Command spokesman, Mohammed Barau who confirmed the arrest said they were members of the Boko Haram sect who escaped last week's police raid at Kur ward of the metropolis.

Mr Barau explained that the Boko Haram suspects were three in number when intercepted at the military check point along Gombe road when the two were arrested while the third, a driver escaped with the car they were travelling in.

"The two suspects were among those that escaped during the police raid but unfortunately they were not able to escape from the state following their arrest at the check point," he said.

Mr Barau assured that the security agents in collaboration with the state government, are doing everything possible to flush out the sect from the state, and urged residents of the state to go about their normal businesses.

It would be recalled that the police raided the hide out of the suspected Boko Haram members last week killing three of them while others arrested sustained of injuries.

However in less than 5 days of the Kur raid, 2 police stations and a bank were attacked at Toro and Alkaleri in Bauchi State allegedly by members of the sect.
